Tastebud : Dionysos

26 February 2025

Greek food for dinner. I have never had Greek food before so this was a great experience for me. The two of us shared pita bread SEK35, saganaki kefalotyri SEK135, pikilia SEK350. For dessert, we had karidopita SEK95. All food was nice! Good thing we shared so that we could try more dishes.

We received complimentary bread as starters. The bread is definitely not made from sourdough. Not tasty bread but it was great to have it with olive oil instead of the usual butter.

Plate on the left - pita bread. Traditional Greek bread with oregano herb and olive oil

Plate in the middle - pikilia. Variety plate with lamb chops, fillet of beef, pork fillet, biffteki (greek baked beef patties) and sausage, served with tzatziki and oven-baked potatoes. All meat was delicious.

Plate on the right -  saganaki kefalotyri. Fried Greek aged cheese with fig marmelade. Super good!

Dessert - Karidopita. Walnut cake with cinnamon syrup served with ice cream. The cake was warm and it went well with the ice-cream.

Tastebud : No 17 Palace

25 February 2025

New Chinese restaurant for us to try - No 17 Palace! The place was quiet which was really great for us to discuss on our summer trip. The place is affordable and the food portion is big for the 3 of us. Rice is included in the meal. Food is tasty and we had nothing to complain. We were really happy with our choice of restaurant.

For starters, we had sliced beef and pork tongue in chili sauce SEK179. This is a cold dish.

For main dish, the three of us shared Boiled entrecote with e.g. duck blood, tripe and chilli SEK358. This portion was a lot for us. I finished most of the coagulated duck blood. We had a vegetable dish - Fried eggplant with fish flavor SEK188.

Tastebud : Rara

19 February 2025

The first dinner outing for the year is at Rara restaurant that serves Nepalese food. For me, the food was similar to Indian food, except for the momos which is a Nepalese dish (dumplings).

For starters, the three of us shared a chilli cheese (paneer) SEK110 and chilli chicken SEK115. The sauce was yummy. Not spicy although the name of the dish has chilli.

For main dish, we shared 2 naan bread for SEK30 each (no photos), a bowl of burnt ginger rice SEK45, a set of 4 fried momos chicken SEK99, a set of 4 fried momos pork SEK99, spinach and cottage cheese curry SEK170 and lamb curry SEK190. Curries were flavourful and unfortunately, there was not enough curry to enjoy the naan bread with.

I just checked the menu a month later and it is updated. The lamb curry comes with basmati rice and costs SEK245. Momos come in 8 pieces and cost SEK200. There are 4 momos in another section of the menu which I am unsure of the size. Spinach and cottage cheese curry comes with basmati rice too and costs SEK225. I am glad that we visited the restaurant before the menu was updated. Seems pricier to me with the addition of the rice to the curry.

The dips for the momos were delicious.
