Tastebud : Värmdö Veranda (2nd time)

Last year, we went to Värmdö Veranda for the first time when it was newly opened. They serve Danish bread. Last year, I had salmon on the bread. This year, I had roast beef on the bread for SEK119. I checked last year's menu and it was SEK119 too. Hope the price does not increase next year. Food is simple and I suppose you can say, healthy too. :)

Tastebud : Ikki Sushi Bar (2nd time)

Summer is always a good season to meet friends as daylight hours are long and it is cooling in the evening. Going back home late is not scary because it is still bright.

Today, I am having dinner with some friends at Ikki Sushi Bar which is located inside a food court, Kungshallen (The King's Hall). I went to this place in 2019. I had Tori Yokisoba for SEK155. It is a simple dish of stir-fried noodles with skewed chicken and vegetables. Writing the dish name in another language sounds very exotic but when translated to English, it is nothing fancy in the end.

Tastebud : Lilla Kina

Dinner at Lilla Kina. I have a friend who is keen on trying Chinese food so I was in charge of finding good Chinese restaurants. This place got some good reviews.

We had 3 meat dishes and 1 vegetable dish plus rice. We were very full - the three of us. I think we should have ordered 2 meat dishes and 2 vegetable dishes.

First dish - braised cow stomach in spicy sichuan stew for SEK158. There are such dishes (other parts of the animal) in Malaysia but I do not usually eat them. The sichuan stew is very spicy and we could not finish the stew. 

Second dish - sauteed thin shredded pork fillet and leek eaten with thin Mandarin pancakes for SEK138. This one was really nice! Too bad there were only 6 pancakes. 

Third dish - Bacon in hoisin sauce for SEK258. This was really good too. Bacon is always yummy.

Fourth dish - Stir-fried shredded potatoes and bell pepper for SEK89.

And a bowl of rice for SEK15. We were very quick in finishing the rice as the dishes taste really good with rice.

Tastebud : Sibiriens Sinokök

I thought I was going to eat some Siberian food but I was informed that this restaurant has changed owners and the food served here is the usual Chinese food - noodles and rice. Prices have increased slightly now. I am writing this in December but I back-dated my post so that the post is not too far from my actual experience. I had Shaanxi Saoxi Noodles for SEK158. Take-away costs SEK150. I wonder why is take-away cheaper. Maybe one does not need to wash the utensils? This dish has 1 chilli next to its name. So, this is noodles served in sour and spicy soup made by beef, carrot, mushroom, tofu, daylily and omelette. This is a simple soup and best eaten during winter, in my opinion. It was not spicy for me. Quick check in the Facebook and the new price for this dish from 1 October 2022 is SEK158 for both lunch and take-away and SEK160 for dinner.


My boyfriend had Sichuan dan dan noodles for SEK138 and take-away costs SEK132. This dish has 2 chillies next to its name in the menu. He said that it was very spicy. I thought it was yummy. Well, Sichuan pepper can be numbing. This is noodles with beef mince, sesame/peanut paste, preserved vegetables, spring onion, pakchoy chilli. Quick check in the Facebook and the new price for this dish from 1 October 2022 is SEK138 for both lunch and take-away and SEK145 for dinner.


Me in preparation to take food photo before anyone else can eat it. I wonder why is my dish more expensive than his. Nevertheless, a dish that is around SEK150 is still affordable. So, I do not dress very fancy and I am messy when I go out for meals during weekdays. This is actually my cycling top. I do not dress fancy if I am having meals with my boyfriends or my laid-back friends.

Tastebud : Trattorian (2nd time)

I met some friends for dinner after work and we tried Trattorian which has such expensive food. I went here last year for my birthday and the brunch was great. So, I thought why not with the dinner. As all expensive restaurants are, the portion is small but I did not want to order more. 

This is my Pappardelle al ragù for SEK195. According to Wikipedia, Pappardelle is large, very broad, flat pasta, similar to wide fettuccine, Ragù is a meat-based sauce that is commonly served with pasta. So, the English explanation for this dish is Chuckroll ragout, redwine, garlic, herbs & fuscella di Napoli. The dish is nothing exceptional for me. 

More googling in the meaning of the dish:
1) Chuckroll is a cut of a meat from a cow. It is a large, boneless cut that’s taken from between the backbone and ribs. This means that the meat will have a mix of tough and tender. Source from Price of Meat.
2) Ragout is a savory dish with chunks of meat and vegetables cooked together into a stew. 
3) Fuscella di Napoli is a type of cheese. It is the white blob in the middle of the dish.

Tastebud : Björkvik Bistro (2nd time)

Dinner to celebrate my boyfriend's mum's birthday. We sat outside this year as it was very warm but we sat under a shade to avoid the sun. Last year, we were here in August and we sat indoor as it was chilly in the evening. The food here is pricey but yummy. So, I guess it is not too bad to eat here once a year. 

We were served bread prior to starters. I like the bread. 


For starters, I had Chèvre Chaud with summer salad and vinaigrette that costed SEK145. Very simple salad but the price is not simple.


For the main dish, I had a fish dish - Grilled pikeperch with Gomanda sauce, trout rum and potato dumplings for SEK285. It was quite filling due to the potato dumplings.
