Takvandring = Rooftop Tour

27 August 2018

Today, I did a rooftop tour! And this is thanks to Kompis Sverige again. Earlier, I had joined their activities for theatre plays and concerts. They have super awesome activities and I check their website pretty often.

There were 8 of us and we gathered at Gamla Stan to meet up with 2 guides from Takvandring. These ladies are really knowledgeable about Stockholm. We stood at the rooftop and the lady with the blond hair explained to us about the history of Stockholm.

Our rooftop tour was at the top of Gamla Riksdag Huset which means The Old Parliament House. The rooftop was located on the 7th floor. There were harnesses and helmets provided, as well as a plastic pouch to hang around your neck to store your mobile phone in case you don't have a neck holder for your phone.

Korea Cultural Festival 2018

25 August 2018

Summer will end soon and Korea made an appearance! It was a cooling day and it got slightly warm when the sun appeared. I got a temporary sticker, tried on Korea's traditional dress - Hanbok, and sampled their Omija berry drink and kimchi rice. There was even a demo for makeup and of course, K-Pop performance too.

I did not stay for long because it was so crowded! Enjoy this short post!

Longest Book Flea Market

19 August 2018

My activities are now limited to weekend activities as I have started working now. Can you believe that? I have started working! I am so happy and extremely proud of myself.

This is the weekend after my first week at work. I went to the once-upon-a-time longest book flea market in Stockholm. It is not so long anymore. It is usually held on the Sunday after Stockholm's Cultural Week. I was not attracted to any of the books because a majority of them were in Swedish, and I have 2 fictional Swedish books at home which I have not touched yet. So, I should read them first. There were a few self-published writers trying to sell their book.

Even saw a huge bug! Pretty ingenious.

One-Day Cruise: Part 2 - Afternoon on Viking Amorella

9 August 2018

From Viking Grace, we changed ships at Mariehamn to Viking Amorella which is significantly smaller.

The signs are very clear and we went through a walkway towards Amorella. Check out how huge Grace is.

One-Day Cruise: Part 1 - Morning on Viking Grace

9 August 2018

It has always been on my to-do list to go on a cruise. I got to do a one-day cruise on Viking Line for an affordable price (well, my friend says that it is affordable) of SEK464. We got a member price for breakfast and lunch because my friend is a member. Breakfast costed SEK114 and lunch costed SEK250. If I am not mistaken, SEK50 is for booking via telephone and the other SEK50 is the trip (I guess this is the one that is discounted).

Since it was a one day trip, the cruise started at 7.45am and we will reach Stockholm at 6.55pm. The itinerary was like this - Leave Stockholm at 7.45am on Viking Grace and reach Mariehamn (in Finland) at 2.10pm (Finland time which is 1 hour later), followed by walking through a pathway that leads us to our next boat (upon reaching Mariehamn), leave Mariehamn at 2.25pm (Finland time) on Viking Amorella and reach Stockholm at 6.55pm. My friend decided to purchase a room to rest on Viking Amorella. It costed SEK99 for the ad-hoc purchase. It was surprisingly cheap because this room is on the lowest deck and the view of the sea is a painted view on the window!

We got our tickets and waited for the time to board the ferry. There were lots of tourists with empty bags to stock the bags with tax-free alcohol.
