Today, I had burger for dinner. My friend's mum was here for a visit and would like to try Swedish food so we went to a restaurant that was recommended. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with my chuck burger. 195kr. Meat patty is dry. Bread is dry. Coleslaw was nothing extraordinary. For starters, we got served soft and hard bread. The soft bread was dry too and crumbled easily. The hard bread is similar to the hard bread that my boyfriend's mum has in her oven.

Hotpot for lunch! SEK338 per person for a weekend buffet. My friend treated me to it. It was so yummy! The food was really good. One makes their own sauce mixture too. I took sesame sauce with chilli. Really hot but delicious!

Blodomloppet 2024

My second time with Blodomloppet (Blood 'circulation' run). I ran this the first time in 2022, also sponsored by my company. This is a run to raise awareness for blood donors. Donated blood is a fresh produce and can last 6 weeks only. I am a blood donor in Sweden! Our company sponsored the run so me and 4 other colleagues joined the run to form a team to be able to share a picnic bag. This is a 5km run at Djurgården. Since I moved to Sweden, I have stopped running and I have lost my form. No stamina. No strength. Since my colleague was keen for the run, I decided to join too - just for that picnic bag! So, I trained sporadically until I could run at least 4km. 

On that day itself, it rained! Oh my wrists ... they hurt from the cold and rain. My colleagues, on the other hand, did not realise that it rained and even commented that they were lucky that they missed the rain. I was a bit surprised and I wondered if the rain clouds were just above me only. It was a painful run for me. When the rain stopped at KM2, I was not in my best shape anymore. I just wanted to finish the distance. In total, it took me 33:54 minutes. I thought it will take me 35 minutes so I am happy that I finished 1 minute lesser. Also, I was injury-free but I had a cold the next day. Sneezed so much!

The picnic bag that we got at the end of the run - potato salad, soft bread, hard bread, vegetarian prawn salad, cheese, cherry tomatoes, snack paprika, cookies, a 1.5 litre bottle of carbonated water. 

I went to the Blood Donation Centre tent and I got a towel as a gift for being a blood donor.

Me before the run - it was drizzling then. I was dreading the run already. I have run before when it is cold and my body hurts - wrists, hands, and creeping slowly up my arms. Physically painful. It is difficult to explain this to others can withstand the cold.

There are so many Chinese restaurants in Stockholm! I thought I had tried a lot and could not find more but I managed to find a new place. China Restaurant has 3 branches and brew their own beer too! My 2 companions tried their beer and they think the beer was good! I tried the beer too and it was not as bitter as how beers usually are. In this restaurant, we shared a Peking duck (598kr) and fried green beans (195kr). The menu described the Peking duck to be shared among 4 persons but the three of us could finish it and we did not order too many dishes either. I am not a fan of duck, in general, as I find the meat chewy but after having this Peking duck, it changed my perception. The meat in Peking duck is not chewy but the skin is not crispy, as I was hoping it will be. 

Peking duck is served in 3 rounds. I read that Peking duck is carved in front of the customers but we did not get that. For the first round, slices of duck skin with meat eaten with steamed pancakes served with julienned spring onion and cucumber and eaten with fermented bean sauce. Very Yummy! 

Second round - shredded duck meat with chilli powder.

 

We had an additional dish too - fried green beans that has a rating of two chillis on the menu. It was cooked with sichuan pepper so the dish can be numbing to the mouth if one consumes the sichuan pepper. The dish came with a bowl of rice. 

Third round from the Peking duck. Duck soup with the remaining of duck bone. There was some meat left in the bone. Look at the last photo.
