Orlangen Nature Reserve

20 January 2018

Today's 10km walk brought me to Orlången and Flemingsberg Nature Reserve. We met at Huddinge Station and took bus 709 towards Länna Handelsplats where we alighted at a station called Smedstorpsvägen.

It was truly a White Winter Wonderland and feels like a 'Frozen' moment. It was like real winter with snow all around me. There has not been a proper snowfall since my first encounter in November - I made a snowman then, and never got the chance to make another since then as the snow became too dry. It was -6 degrees today, and the snow was too dry and powdery to make a snowman. One can also see the patterns of the snowflakes! Yes, it was cold but with the proper clothings, one can enjoy nature walk during winter. I had a fleece jacket, down jacket and my soft-shell jacket. THREE layers of jackets!

By the way, it is really difficult to walk in snow! It takes a lot of effort to life your legs from the snow and trudge on again in the snow. Even worse when going up a slope.

Someone used snow to boil as drinking water. It was a distance away from the walking path to ensure clean snow.

My first walk on a frozen lake. It was covered with a layer of snow.

Chair got stuck in a frozen lake.

Can you see a layer of air above the ground? That is evaporated air from the snow due to the warmth from the sun.

I did my first snow angel, and also the only one for this winter. Haha!
