Today, I learnt how to play boule, which is a game that originated from France. This is a game that is mostly played during the summer. We were lucky to play on this day because the next day and following day were rainy days. We played in Rålambshovsparken. It costs SEK150 per person for 90 minutes but my friend has a discount card so it was cheaper for us.
The objective is to score points by having boules closer to the target than your opponent after all boules have been thrown. This is achieved by projecting boules closer to the small target ball, called a cochonnet, or by hitting the opponents' boules away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. The game is normally and best played on hard dirt or gravel. It can be played in public areas in parks, or in dedicated facilities called boulodromes. Source from Wikipedia.
The grey balls were slightly heavier and we tried to throw the balls as close as possible to the small orange ball which is the target.
If the balls of either teams are close to the target ball, we have to measure who has the closest distance to earn 1 point.
On rare occasions, a person can throw the grey ball right next to the target ball! Like me here! Of course, I can't jump for joy if the other team has not finished with their balls and can attempt to hit my ball away with their ball and earn the point. Easy to understand?
We played 2 games and each of us won one game each. There are 13 chances in a game. I was happy to try a new game! It is really fun and competitive!
