Roslagsleden 8, 9 and half of 10

30 June 2019

On a very hot Sunday, I joined 2 friends to hike Roslagsleden 8, 9 and part of 10. In total, we did 44km. As you can see from the below photo, we did a fast pace. Thanks to summer, we have long daylight hours, so we could start early and end late. Thankfully, we managed to end early by 6.15pm. It was a bit challenging as it was very hot and some of the path was on tarred road too which was not very pleasant for the feet.

The 3 of us gathered at Tekniska Högskolan where we took bus 676 at 7.10am. We arrived at Norrtälje bus station about an hour later. We started the walk at 8.20am from the bus station.

Entering Roslagsleden Section 8.

Caught sight of a brick church. This is one of the sections where we walked on tarred road under the scorching heat.

We walked past high grass. It was high up to my waist. We walked through a wheat field too. It was a pretty sight.

We took a break by the jetty to cool the legs at KM30. The time was 2.54pm. Of course, we did have a lunch break earlier at 11.30am at KM16.

A blue chair for one to sit while waiting for the bus. This is a bus stop.

We are now entering into Roslagsleden 10. This is a beautiful walk by the waters.

We reached Älmsta at 6.15pm. That was KM44. It was a small town where I bought an ice-cream to cool myself down. We took bus 637 at 6.46pm back to Norrtälje bus station where we arrived at 7.20pm, and from there, we headed back to Tekniska Högskolan again. My legs were tired but not tired enough to walk to work the next day and for the rest of 2 weeks because I refused to top up my monthly train card. Haha!

Here are some tips to walk 44km. Find the right company to walk with because you need to have good spirits and laughter to entertain the walk. Bring lots of water to drink although I brought 3 liters and drank half only. Bring food - mine was a long sandwich wrap (for lunch) and 2 bananas (for the breaks).
