Today, I had dinner with my colleagues at Cafe Tranan. This cafe or I would call it a fancy restaurant has been around since 1929! The place was a bit tight and only one person can go between the tables. Because of the small space, it was very noisy and we had to speak loudly to one another. This place was very crowded on a weeknight. I enjoy having dinner with my colleagues because I do not have to pay for the meal... hehe.
I had seared cod with shrimps and an egg and the cod was sprinkled with grated horseradish and decorated with dill for SEK365. The dish came with potatoes. I could taste the butter in the potatoes. I was a bit curious what does seared means and here is the definition - Searing is a cooking technique that exposes ingredients (typically meat) to a high temperature to create a crisp browning on the outside. This method enhances the flavour of the dish and is often done in a small amount of oil, butter or fat.
There was only a candlelight on the table so I could not see if there was a crisp brown surface on the fish. Can you see from my photos? By the way, the plates and the wine glasses were imprinted with the cafe's name - Tranan.
For dessert, I had tiramisu that costs SEK125. It is so cute that the dessert came in a small jar. I think the dessert was prepared beforehand because it was cold and the jar is cold, so this dessert must have been in the refrigerator.
