The Story
Today, we will row a boat to Ingmarsö and explore the island. One can take Waxholms boat too but the ticket is quite expensive despite it being one or two stops away, depending which boat route it is and which stop - south or north of Ingmarsö. The price ranges from SEK61 to SEK86. Also, check the timetable.

First, we have breakfast that is included in our accommodation. Simple breakfast of yoghurt and granola, bread, buns with fillings, boiled egg, juice and coffee.

Then, we made our journey to the boat. It took us about 20 minutes including a stop to fill our water at the pump. The steps are very simple. One must ensure that there is a boat at each side of the stop. In total, one has to row 3 times. Each time took us about 12 minutes. The distance is 400meters.

First, we rowed from Finnhamn to Ingmarsö. Hook the boat that is on Ingmarsö side to our boat.
Second, we rowed back to Finnhamn with the second boat in tow. At Finnhamn, unhook the second boat and tie it to a tree at Finnhamn.
Third, we rowed back to Ingmarsö. Tie the boat to a tree at the stop.

Now, there is a boat at each side.

First row.

I attempted to row. Never row before. I failed. First, the boat floated near the rocks instead because I rowed the wrong way. Then, I got the correct way but the rowing was too heavy for me. Then, my boyfriend took over again. It felt very shaky for me on the boat when we changed places as I have to stand up. He told me to stop screaming...

Reached Ingmarsö after the first row. A boat was waiting there.

Second row. We hooked the boat to us and towed it to Finnhamn.

Tie the second boat at Finnhamn.

Third row - Back to Ingmarsö again.

We reached Ingmarsö and continued our hike.

We passed by two fenced pastures. First pasture has cows. Second pasture has sheeps. We have to make sure the gate is closed.

First swimming spot at Ingmarsö is called Femsund. Many kids were here. One can hop from the wooden platform into the waters. I did not do that. I climbed down a ladder and dipped myself in.

Then, we headed towards the bakery. The way to the bakery is very straightforward. Road is well-built too. We even passed by the recycling center! I am impressed that the island has a recycling center. I guess they have to. There are some permanent stayers here too.

The recycling center. There were specific weeks for collection of household items. Week 19, 20, 33 and 34 are for refridgerators and freezers. Week 21, 22, 35, and 36 - oven, washing machine.  Week 26 to 30 is for combustible waste such as sofa, outdoor furniture, bed.

The bakery is in a large barn.

A bottle of rescued juice is SEK50. The price does not differ much from Thelins - I had rescued ginger and apple for SEK49.

It was refreshing to have iced coffee. I don't think I have drank iced coffee in Sweden before. I have had that many times in Malaysia.

The walk continues towards the restaurant. On the way, we passed by unmanned outdoor shops where one transfers the money via Swish, a bank app. This place even sells pots and soil. Very convenient for those who live here.

You know this is a big island when there is a grocery store from a chain. Coop does not have the cheapest products but Coop is usually found in most isolated areas.

There is coal for sale too. Perfect for grilling! Brown bags weigh about 2kg costs SEK95. The red sack weighs 15kg costs SEK437.

The restaurant is by the sea. We went to the bar instead as we were not here for the food. The bar is on a floating jetty. Nice view to see the incoming and outgoing boats into the jetty.

I took a cocktail summer drink. I don't feel much of the alcohol in the drink.

We continued on the Stockholm Archipelago Trail. We went to Norra Ingmarsö where the jetty in the north side is located. There are signs for vehicles for hire. A golf cart and a mobility scooter. Golf cart requires a driving license. I saw many of these vehicles passing us. It would have been really nice to rent them and feel the breeze.

Golf car - 3 hours SEK400, 6 hours SEK650, 12 hours SEK1200, 24 hours SEK2000, 1 week SEK8000
Mobility scooter - 3 hours SEK200, 6 hours SEK300, 12 hours SEK500, 24 hours SEK750, 1 week SEK3000

It does not include the cost of sending the vehicle and collecting it back. Each occasion costs SEK200.

We saw a sign for flea market (loppis) and went to search for it. Nothing much but it was nice to look in the area.

We saw Ingmarsö Bed and Breakfast. The price here is more expensive. They even have a room in a shed too! Can you see the two red sheds in the second photo?

A previous woodshed on the left side can accommodate two persons and it costs SEK1500 per night. And the shed that is slightly inside can fit 4 persons and costs SEK1800 per night. Come to think of it, the price here is cheaper than in Finnhamn as the price includes breakfast and bedding sets! The location is not too far from the north jetty either.

Next to the Bed and Breakfast is a local museum. We spoke to the caretakers and they happily shared the history of Ingmarsö.

We hiked into nature and found a spot to have our lunch. We brought dried food. It is not as cheap as making your own dried food. We bought this on discount so it costs about SEK74 per packet.

The walk continued on towards the boat. We saw sheeps in the fenced sheep pasture.

Time to row back to Finnhamn!

We made a mistake for our rowing. I suggested that my boyfriend hopped on to the second boat as soon as he released the boat so that he does not need to hop inside the same boat as me. Big mistake! He had a difficult time rowing as my weight on the other boat did not help at all. Me on the other boat pulled him back sometimes when the rope was pulled. We made it in the end. He persevered really hard.

Finally, the rowing experience was completed. We took a dip in the waters before we headed for dinner. We decided to have pizza at the rooftop bar in Finnhamn. Shared a table with a couple whom we randomly chose to sit with and we had a good chat. It was a great evening surrounded by music and cool breeze.
